BubbleLife Unveils Revised Internship Program

Teaches best practices in the evolving world of digital journalism

Following three successful semesters of its high school Internship Program, BubbleLife has launched a new, revised program designed to teach students even more about the state of digital journalism. The Internship Program has also expanded to include college students.

Previously, interns worked closely with their BubbleLife supervisor to discover topics, write and post articles each week for distribution on BubbleLife.com news sites and through daily newsletters.

In BubbleLife’s newest version of the program, interns will complete a different type of article each week, including topics like event coverage, a business feature and a restaurant review.

In addition, interns will learn and incorporate digital marketing skills into each week’s article to further their knowledge of digital journalism and media.

“This program is unlike other internships,” Caitlin Giddens, Neighborhood Editor and Intern Supervisor, said. “BubbleLife is a different type of news aggregator, and our innovative Internship Program reflects our philosophy and understanding of new media.”

With the new Internship Program, BubbleLife seeks to immerse students in modern media and educate them in social media promotion, online marketing, RSS feeds and WordPress.com.

“Our interns will be challenged with a new assignment each week, enhancing their skills and allowing them to find their niche in the industry. We will teach our interns to be stronger writers, but we will also encourage them to become ‘brand journalists,’” Giddens said.

“By the time they graduate from the program, our interns will be fully equipped to thrive in the evolving industry.”
